My name is Jessica and I love to read. No, seriously, I LOVE to read.
Reading hasn’t always been one of my passions. In fact, when I was in middle school and high school, I really felt reading was a chore – chapters in textbooks, the occasional book report, but it was never something I really wanted to read. That was until my AP (Advanced Placement) lit class my senior year of high school. This class was amazing! Sure, there were some standard assignments (Of Mice and Men, The Fall of the Hall of Usher, The Necklace, etc), but there was also the opportunity to just pick books.
Of course this freedom came with a small price, in this case it was called, “Senior Thesis.” So, I fell in love with the magical world of Hogwarts and wrote my thesis on Harry Potter. These books became my first literary love – I’ve read each of the Potter books at least nine times and will probably read them many times into the future.
Since Harry, many new loves have been introduced in my life and I’ve been fortunate to share them with family, friends, coworkers, random people on the Portland Streetcar. But then I got thinking, why not share the fabulous books I’ve been reading with people I don’t know and will most likely not meet on the streetcar. Maybe I can connect with other people who have a passion for reading just like me, or even better, help people who have a hard time finding great books, find them.
So, I hope you enjoy my blog and if you have any suggestions for books I can “revel” in, please contact me.
